I think his main problem is that he’s got his ad backwards. The cream colored shell looks decent enough, the ‘red’ one he calls “complete” is a pile of parts. Sell it as the shell and a parts car and the ad is far less insulting.

I’m pretty sure the red one would collapse if you tried to dig it up. I don’t care how much you love Minis, but that looks beyond saving.

Oh no, for sure. I know people with ones that look like new compared to that, which would still fall apart if you looked at them wrong. There are ways (some less legal than others) which it could be saved through, but even for a cooper, it wouldn't be worth it

I think that’s probably what he’s going for; sell the red one as parts and a vin (this is surprisingly common for minis, as well as illegal and highly frowned upon) then put it all onto the the salvageable white shell, then sell it on as a ‘genuine’ mk1 cooper

That’s probably what will happen with this car (most likely along with the engine), but there are other ways; there are still companies making new replacement shells, which can be used to save a car like this. However, this is a mk1 car, and all the available shells are for much newer cars. They’d need some pretty significant changes to even look close to what this one used to
